This green island, with its rich fauna and unspoiled nature, is the perfect place to relax. It's one of the sunniest islands in Croatia. In the past, the island held a strategic location, which is why it remains relatively uncrowded today. Here, you'll find peace for your soul and an escape from everyday life's stress. The two famous fishing towns, Vis and Komiža, are just 14 km apart. Even divers will find the island fascinating, as they can explore vibrant marine life and the legends of sunken ships. It is a popular diving destination.

The Island VIS is the most southern island of the Central Dalmatia where you can spend your vacation. There are two ways how to get to the Island. You can take a ferry /cca 2 hours/ or a speed-boat /cca 1.5 hour/ from the town Split. They transfer passengers with their cars and belongings on a regular basis. It is the Island of caves, beautiful beaches and spectacular views. From the land you can only see the silhouette of its highest mount called Hum with 587 meters above the see level.

This geologically interesting island is the tenth largest in Croatia. The surrounding small islands and cliffs make the image of the island even more beautiful. In the towns of Vis and Komiža, you'll find numerous cafes and restaurants where you can enjoy authentic seafood culinary specialties. Vis also has a rich winemaking history. In the island's interior, there are many traditional villages such as Velo Selo, Podšpilje, and Oključna. The area is dotted with vineyards and olive trees. You'll meet hospitable locals who will offer you their homemade wines, especially the wine called Vugava, which dates back to ancient times.

You can find many beautiful bays and beaches on the island, especially on the southern side, such as Rukavac, Stiniva, Milna, Srebrena, and Stončica. Directly across from the town of Komiža, you'll find a small island called Biševo known for its sandy beaches, but mostly for the world-famous Blue Cave, called Modra Špilja, which is unique in the world. Another cave, called Zelena Špilja, can be found on the island of Ravnik.
